Self Storage RulesBy joel on October 14, 2011 | No Comments
Just like most things in life, there are rules. There are rules when you go to school, rules in life, and also there are rules when it comes to using self storage. Many things make sense in terms of why there is a rule for it now. Still unfortunately people still get upset when those rules are enforced. This is also true for the rules of life and how you treat people.Never is it a good idea to be rude to people when you are trying to get something you want even in the storage industry. Sometimes customers come in to the self storage facility and attempt to bully the manager into doing something they are not allowed to do. Then customers try to hassle the managers to give in or they threaten to go to another facility. Of course the manager wants to mean back in some cases, but it is good for them to hold their ground. Most of the self storage property managers will have to get approval from their regional manager or owner. In most cases, it is not allowed or wise to store anything food related. You cannot store fish in a storage unit. You will hear many crazy stories from property managers telling you people tried to store things they were not allowed to store. Customers will try to store the weirdest things. The property manager will tell you that you are not able to store some things. Unfortunately some people try to go behind their backs and do it anyway. The truth will come out eventually, rules were broken and the tenant will be asked to leave. If you are managing an estate, you should be able to find an affordable storage space if you run out of room. Self storage property managers will be available if you need help. Just give them a call and you will be surprised at their wealth of knowledge. Before you do something silly, just make sure you talk to the property manager. It would be silly to be thrown out of the facility for doing something you knew was against the rules. Make sure that you are fully aware of the rules so you can ensure your stay at your local self storage facility is a pleasant one.Just like most things in life, there are rules. When To Hire Rental Property ManagementBy admin on April 11, 2009 | 2 Comments
It happens all the time. An ambitious and inspired homeowner seeks to branch out into an exciting new direction by purchasing a fixer upper home that is too good of a bargain to pass up. They remodel, breathing new life into old bones. When their redecoration is complete, they begin reaping the benefits of their hard work by leasing out their new acquisition, sharing it with a family in need, and making money back on their investment. All of the sudden, they have become landlords, and as their work pays dividends, their eyes wander to other nearby houses as they begin having grand visions of buying up all kinds of homes in their neighbourhood with the intention of doing the same thing. Perhaps the realty entrepreneur dreams of starting a Scarborough storage business. While this type of investing does offer some great benefits, it also takes a steadfast amount of work to maintain, especially as the business expands. It is important to know when to ask for help. For some novice landlords and landladies, hiring a property management company is all that they need do to regain their edge and further their course.
When the workload from your current investments becomes too much to bear, it is time to look into hiring a management company to assist you. There is no reason to spread yourself too thin by fixing leaky plumbing and doing background checks on potential tenants within a thirty minute time frame. The more homes, office buildings or St. Leonard storage facilities that you have, the tougher they become to manage. Things break, tenants need assistance, loans fall through and the city requires inspections, and all the while it is also the responsibility of the owner to make sure that they get their rent monies each month. Having more on your plate than you can reasonably deal with does not make a business run more efficiently. Having someone who is available to assist you with all of these small yet important details is a great way to free up your own time.
Hiring a property management company is also beneficial when you decide to tread into unfamiliar waters. Lets face it, we all have to learn new things at times. Who we choose to emulate and learn from will determine how much we know. Why not learn from the pros and save ourselves untold amounts of time and unnecessary grief? If your inexperience has ground you have to find someone who can push you into action again.
Another great reason to look into hiring a property management company is if you are choosing to invest in homes or in land that is either overseas or is far from your general location. It does not make sense to drive one hundred miles to show a potential tenant one of your homes. If you do not live in the area it is perfectly acceptable, even recommended, that you hire someone to help you in your absence, someone who will take care of your investments as if they were their own. A more helpful professional there has never been, especially when you need access to plumbers, contractors, landscapers, attorneys and other legal professionals and you are at a loss as to whom to choose. Find the right property management company for the job who comes highly recommended, and you will not need to bear the stress of a business that is experiencing growing pains. Instead you can sit back and enjoy the success of your investment empire.
