  • Self Storage Impressions
By admin on July 5, 2010 | No Comments Comments

Most people take on a vapid expression when they are inspecting a self storage unit.  You can practically hear their first impressions forming in their minds.  “Well, this is just a big, empty space,” you can see them thinking.  And on some level, you know that they are dead wrong.  Surely, if you were only renting an empty room, then you would not be paying these kinds of bills for it, now would you?  Of course not, reader.  If you do not understand where all of the expenses are coming from when it comes to your self storage unit, then I can give you a few ideas.

First of all, reader, you are paying for the maintenance of your self storage unit.  I mean, these things do not keep themselves clean, after all.  Your facility is constantly trying to keep everything nice, safe, and clean.  If something breaks, it is your rent money that is going to pay to get it fixed.  And while that might not sound entirely fair, it is simply the best way to run a business.  I mean, you cannot have a busted door and a broken light bulb on a unit for very long before you feel as though you have shot yourself in the foot, you know?

Of course, your rent money is also going to serve to keep your unit as safe as possible.  This is going to involve equipping it with some of the best security features that are out there.  You cannot skimp on the video surveillance cameras, and you are also going to want some door alarms to boot.  Of course, you have to pay a property manager enough money for them to care about keeping the property safe, too.  None of these things are free, reader.  That is what your rent is going to get you.

Many facilities are also going to charge some start up fees, and when you think about these, they make a great deal of sense as well.  Sometimes, your facility is going to charge what it calls an “administration fee”, which is essentially a payment that cleans your unit and lets your property manager finish up all of your paperwork.  Mot facilities are also going to require that you pay for your lock, but they are going to let you keep it for your own use when your lease is up.  And I do not know about you, but I can always find a use for a nice, secure lock.

While it may seem like you are getting ripped off at first, you can usually rest assured that you are getting what you pay for.  I mean, running a self storage facility is not exactly the cheapest thing in the world.  There is a lot of work to do, and you have to pay a lot of money to keep the whole operation running well.  Granted that you are alright with that setup, you do not have to worry about a thing when it comes to renting your next self storage unit.

The next time that you are out there, shopping around for your new self storage unit, try to keep a few of these things in mind before you fly off the handle.  Sure, you may not like paying yet another bill, but at least you know that your money is going to work for you at the end of the day.

  • Relax At Montréal Storage
By admin on June 1, 2010 | No Comments Comments

After seven months of looking for a job Brent finally found an opportunity to do some part time work for a company from home. It did not pay that well but considering he did not currently have a job it was an improvement. Having to work from home he found that it was best to have a designated spot to do work. That way work and home did not necessarily have to overlap, and he was not distracted while he was working. He started out by working at the table but really wanted to change his guest room into a home office. They said that in a few more months they would be having enough work to make him a full time employee.

When the full time job came along he saved up his money to buy a desk and office supplies for his home office. Brent found a Montreal storage unit to move all of his guest bedroom furniture in. he had his brother help him move everything out to the Montreal storage unit and they set up his home office.

A year later when he was still working from home and keeping his guest bedroom stored in a Montreal storage unit his work from home job ended. Brent now faced the dilemma of leaving his extra room as an office or moving the furniture back in from the Montreal storage unit and turning it back into a guest room.

In the end Brent decided that since very few people had ever really stayed in the guest room he would leave it as an office but turn it into an office and library combination. He left the desk in there but moved the filing cabinets to storage. He moved in a comfy chair and two book cases. It turned into a great room in the end. It was a great place to go at the end of the day with a good book or his lap top and just relax. He found that now that he was back in a nine to five type job it was just as important to have a place to relax at home that it was to have a place to work from home.

Now when he came home from his job and he needed to relax a little he knew right where he was going to go. With his book and a good cup of coffee he would head into his library and instantly relax and leave all of his stress outside that room.

  • Summer Rush For Quebec Storage
By admin on May 25, 2010 | No Comments Comments

Spring is over and it is now time for summer. So all the students are getting out of their spring classes and they are looking for jobs and something to keep them occupied during the summer months. Also what usually comes with the warm weather is people deciding to get out of their house more and see what they can do on the outside of their homes. They look at their gardens and wonder what they can do in order to restore their beautiful landscape they had over a year ago. They also want to figure out whether or not they want to clean out the clutter out of their garage and use Quebec storage.

Sometimes when you walk into your garage, you just throw your hands up in disgust because you want it clean. Many times customers will want to do it in the winter seasons but it is too cold and sometimes the other weather conditions prevent them from doing so. So the summer rush comes to where everyone has the same idea in order to get some clutter out of their house. This is a good thing for Quebec storage facilities because they are happy to potentially fill up their storage units.

During the winter months, it is very hard for some of the Quebec storage companies to get business. In this city, the winter can be pretty rough and companies scrounge for any business they can get. They most of the time have great move in specials and such that for the people who want to brave the winter weather cannot turn down that deal. When the summer seasons come, sometimes the managers are very stressed because the calls keep coming and people keep walking through their door. But it is for sure they rather are stressed at the many people who want storage, versus the people no wanting storage at all.

Quebec storage companies welcome the summer time with open arms and hope that every year surpasses what the last year brought.  There are never any guarantees and facilities themselves cannot just sit by and wait for people to come in. They have to actively ensure that their facility is clean, they get the phone answered and they are advertising effectively. The summer rush is definitely a sight to behold where the facility can be full again. Take advantage of all the potential business when it comes. Leave no lead not followed up on.
