Property Managers are always available to inform customers on how to better store their belongings. They will give great advice on how to store your belongings in order to prevent damage. Believe it or not the property managers are the experts when it comes to storing. Use them for their advice they are there to help. When packing fragile dishes or décor, it is important to keep a few things in mind.
Property managers will inform you to wrap your belongings in bubble wrap, use packing peanuts, or at least protect with old newspapers. Of course the managers of the storage facilities will offer for you to buy the packing supplies that are at their location. Most storage facilities are one stop shops when it comes to self storage. If you do not have something to use to pack your belongings, it is ok, just contact your local property manager.
Always stack like items together to ensure there are not many open spaces. Open spaces in boxes typically lead to sliding around and breaking. Make sure that you put plates with plates, cups with cups, etc. Of course you will want to put tissue paper or other packing material in between these items. Pack things into the box snuggly.  This way, everything does not roll around in the box.
Tell those moving your boxes to be gentle. You will want to be careful with what is being moved around. Most people will as for help moving so they will ask any and everyone to help. Unfortunately with that said your hired help might just throw boxes around or set them down abruptly. If you hire movers, they typically are gentle but it does not hurt to tell them to be gentle with your belongings.
Be sure to label boxes, so they can go on the top of stacked boxes. This way when it is time to move or put the boxes where they go you can see which box is which. One of the worst things that can happen is that you misplace a box and you can not find it until you do not need it. Make sure that you label all sides of the box so no matter which way you stack it, you can see which room the box will go.
Property managers can give you plenty of help when asked. Some veteran property managers can give you great advice on how to store your belongings. When advice is given do not turn it down.
