During these thirty seconds, you can inspect the belongings with as much scrutiny as you would like. At the end of this period, though, the property manager is going to shut the door, and you are going to have to have your bid in mind. From here, you will write your bid down on a slip of paper and pass it up to the property manager. Quite simply, if you have placed the highest bid, then you are going home with the contents of the unit.

    Of course, when it comes to storage auctions , you have to make sure that you do not keep any items that you should not have. Indeed, units often house a lot of sensitive documents, and not the sorts of documents that you are going to be able to legally sell. If, for example, you win a unit that has a bunch of personal tax documents in it, then you are going to want to return these documents to their owner. Birth certificates, tax forms, drivers licenses, social security cards, and the like, should always be returned to their owners. Of course, if you cannot make any money off of an item that carries sentimental value to its original owner, you should always go ahead and return it. You are not going to get any use out of a family photo album, so you might as well go ahead and return it to its owner.
