  • In Between Homes Storage
By joel on August 23, 2011 | No Comments Comments
When you store the contents of your home, it is usually because you are in between moves.  Most people believe this time will be a very difficult time, but it does not have to be. Here are a couple of tips on how to make the transition easier for you and your family.
Place your furniture in the back of the space. Most likely you will not need the large pieces of furniture while waiting on your new home to be ready. You will need the small things during this transition. Also when you are ready to move into your new place, you will have the large furniture at the front of the truck for easy placing inside your new home. There is nothing like trying to move in large furniture when there are smaller objects in the way. You do not want to step on something when you have a large couch in your hand. That could be disastrous for everyone involved.
Try to place boxes which will need to be accessed the most in the very front. No one wants to climb all over things in order to get to the boxes that you need. It will be smart to place all the boxes that you need to use frequently off to the side while you load everything else. Then on the flip side of the move these things will be the last to come off the truck which means they will be readily accessible for you.
Make sure the unit you are going to use will fit everything securely. When talking to the property manager, ensure that you discuss with them what you are storing. This way they will be able to recommend the best self storage unit that will work for you. They will recommend something that is not too small or something that is not too big. It is a great idea still to walk to your storage unit with the property manager in order to see what the unit looks like. Believe in the property manager, they have seen many people come in and out of their storage units. They have a lot of experience.
Always check the location to ensure it is safe. The property managers understand and know what their property has to offer. They will be happy to tell you about the features of their property because they are proud of those features. If a manager tries to throw price at you first, make sure that you know why they are so anxious. The case may be that they do not have great security so they are just trying to throw a very low price at you. They are, of course, hoping that you be blinded by the savings to notice that your belongings will not be as safe.

  • Storage Can Help as Life Moves On
By jeff on February 11, 2011 | No Comments Comments

It was so hard for Kara to watch her mom grow old and see her as anything but the strong and capable woman that she had always been in her eyes, and had taught her to be. It seemed to happen so fast. One cold that turned into more and eventually left her mother struggling to do the simple tasks of walking and getting out of bed left Kara searching for how to help take care of her mom.

It was to the point that a decision was going to have to be made. Her mother could no longer take care of herself and she was going to need someone to look after her. There of course were options like elderly care facilities that were highly recommended but Kara was struggling with the fact that all of her life her mom had been there to take care of her and she could not imagine not being able to be there for her mother now.

Kara discussed the possibility of moving her mother in to their house with her husband and they discussed it for a long while because this was going to be a huge decision. In the end though it was decided that Kara’s mother was going to be living with them as long as they could reasonable care for her themselves. There were going to still have a nurse come out a few times a week and work with her on her mobility and strength but they were going to take on the responsibility of being the care giver for her mother.

In order to make this move possible they were going to have to clear out a bedroom for her mother as well as find a place to store all of her mother’s personal items. Kara began to look at Buttonville, Ontario self storage units to help them find the extra space that they were going to need in order to make the move possible.

Once she was able to find the Buttonville self storage unit that had the right amenities and the right price Kara began to clear out the guest room to prepare it for her mother to move in. once they got her mothers bed and dressers moved in they could begin to sort through the contents of her mothers house and decide on what stuff would be moved over to the storage unit and what stuff was just junk or could be donated to the local thrift stores.

It was not a quick move and it took days to sort through the contents of her mother’s house. In the end the Buttonville self storage unit was full and her mother was completely moved in. like any adjustment it took a while to get everything back on schedule and get a routine down for the family, but Kara would not have had it any other way. Every night as she tucked her mother in bed and told her that she loved her she knew that this was the right decision. Sure it was stressful at times and Kara now had another person besides her children to care for but she was happy that her family was there to support her, and that her job was flexible enough that she was afforded this opportunity to care for her mother.

  • Unit Types of Maple Furniture Storage
By admin on July 21, 2010 | No Comments Comments

There are rules to follow when looking into Maple furniture storage that would help you out a great deal. There are so many unit types, for example, that it would be helpful to find out what is out there so you know what to look for and what to stay away from. The first thing that you should know is the various common unit sizes and what they can hold. The first size, and smallest, would be the five by five. It is five foot wide and five foot in length and typically will have eight foot ceilings. It is worth noting that most of the sizes have eight foot ceilings. This space can hold a good amount of boxes and odds and ends, but really not much furniture. If you are looking to store a lot of boxes or if you have a couch or bed mattress, then you will probably be better off getting the next size up as opposed to trying to cram all of your stuff into the smaller space.

The next size that you will find when shopping around for Maple furniture storage is the five by ten. This space is typically five feet wide and ten feet in length. It is capable of holding around one to two rooms of furniture at the most. A good example of what could fit in this space would be a living room set and a bed set and dresser. Anything more and you would want to go with the five by fifteen. This space is about the same size as a walk in closet and can hold a small apartments worth of stuff. If you have appliances to go along with your apartment, then you will need the ten by ten, which is the next size up. There are a few more sizes above that, but you get the general idea. Before you call around, you should know kind of what size you need or at least what you will be storing, roughly. If you do not know this, the manager will not be able to quote you an accurate price.

If you do not know what you will be storing when you need Maple furniture storage space, then the price estimate could vary from thirty dollars for the smallest space to three hundred dollars for the biggest space. It would kind of be like calling the mechanic and asking what it would cost to get your car fixed without knowing what the problem is. So help out your Maple furniture storage managers and have a general idea of what you need before you call. You may waste a lot of your time and other peoples time if you do not know before you call.

Another thing to consider when you are getting Maple furniture storage is whether or not you will need to get a climate controlled space or if a standard space would work out fine. The climate controlled space will probably cost a few extra dollars, but depending on what you are looking to store, it may be necessary. If you have leather furniture or antique furniture, then you should probably go with the climate controlled space, even though it may cost a few extra dollars. If you just have upholstered couches and chairs, then you can probably go with the standard space.

  • Finding An Airdrie Furniture Storage Spot
By admin on July 9, 2010 | No Comments Comments

It is hard to find someone who loves to move. Most of the time when it comes to the actual moving day, most people regret it. With any kind of planning the day can go well and with as less stress as possible to you. Finding the right Airdrie furniture storage location is crucial to everything working well for you on that moving day. What is the best place to store? It is hard to determine because everyone feels a different way about it. There is not a standard, but there are many different opinions on what to look for when needing to store your household goods.

Many people will really think about how important their belongings are to them and see how much they really want to pay to store it. The bottom line is that they are deciding to put their belongings into an Airdrie furniture storage facility instead of getting rid of it. So no matter what the customer will say, they care about what they are storing. With that being the case, the customer will want a place that is secure and well taken care of. They will want to ensure that they can get to their belongings when they need to.

Having great access hours to your belongings is very important in finding your Airdrie Furniture storage facility. Depending on where you store, you could have twenty four hour access to your belongings or you still could have lengthy gate ours. Well with many people storing all of their furniture and other items, they will need a facility to be pretty flexible with them. So people will look for a storing facility that will have good gate hours. Not all facilities will have a gate around the facility, so they might have twenty four hour access by default.

Some people say that they do not care about the security of an Airdrie furniture storage facility. That is not the truth for the most part. People will be more than pleased to know that only people that are actually tenants are allowed in most facilities. There is a gate that pretty much only allows those with a pin number access to the facility. The only way you get a pin number is by signing a monthly lease. So when customers hear that as a facility security option, they are very pleased. Along with a gate that no one can just walk into you will find that some Airdrie furniture storage facilities will have door alarms and surveillance cameras. It is very pleasing to most to know that even though there is not a person outside walking the property, there is someone keeping an eye on the property from inside the office. Some properties actually record what is going on. That makes some people very secure to know.

Moving even though necessary is not what people would want to do unless they have to. They rather spend the day doing something they enjoy. Finding a place to store your belongings until you need them is very important and should not be taken lightly. Having a local facility that is able to satisfy your needs in terms of storage is good to have and you would want that facility to ensure that your furniture, household goods and other items come out of storage the same way they go in.
